Action against gun violence 
June 2-9. The Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence highlights the international campaign to stop the proliferation and misuse of small arms. The Week of Action is to raise awareness, campaign for better gun laws and push for stronger regulation of the international arms trade. 
Earth Hour 2008 
29 March, 8 pm. It grew out of the Sydney Earth Hour that happened on 31 March 2007 
Cluster bombs ban - Global Day of Action
April 19  actions to promote the May 19-30 Dublin Diplomatic Conference where states will agree to adopt a draft convention banning cluster munitions. Visit the Wellington Conference and read the Conference Declaration (PDF:54 kB).

· Patricia Hopkins, a Tasmanian nurse who has spent six months volunteering at Nyakibale Hospital in south-west Uganda.
· Marc Pequero, a former street child of the Philippines who has spent eight years with Bahay Tuluyan (BT) and currently teaches children on the streets of Manila.
· Rachiel Neverio, head of the Children's Council for a BT Centre in the Philippines and who has stayed with BT since she was ten.
Bahay Tuluyan, a Filipino NGO that provides shelter, education, and care for street children in the Philippines, is visiting Tasmania. During this week they are conducting an advocacy tour, "Kids Views 2006" based on the United Nations Charter on the Rights of the Child. For information on the tour: Mary Blake on 0410 593 521
