1. Cluster bombs are dangerous &
have been used widely by the US since the Vietnam War; many
unexploded bombs remain a threat today & Australia should not
support the US's continued use of these in conflicts such as
Afghanistan & Iraq.
2. Australia must lead by example; we can not condemn Iran or North
Korea for building up stockpiles while failing to condemn the US
which has the greatest number of nuclear weapons.
3. We commit to full troop withdrawal and war reparations; Through
going to war on Iraq we have become responsible for the deaths of
100s of thousands, if not a million Iraqi lives. We must give them
the aid they need to rebuild their nation.
4. We commit to full troop withdrawal and help Afghanistan build up
their own self-determination; people are now more oppressed than the
unjust invasion & our troops should not be supporting the US in
propping up Afghanistan's corrupt government & provide
assistance in helping the people with reconstruction.
5. We support more diplomacy and this can only come about by
distancing ourselves from imperialist and warmongering foreign
policies; harbour and build solidarity, diplomacy and support with
oppressed nations. |
