(1) Note Israel used cluster bombs in Lebanon, obviously they felt they needed to do so - not much point in banning them without solving the problems in the middle east!
(2) But not all at the expense of peaceful nuclear power. The weapons grade plutonium could be used to generate electricity/de-salinate water in a fast breeder.*
(3) The war was lost before it started!
(4) The Afghan people need help to rebuild/ education/ hospitals/ houses / power stations / water / food etc
(5) Probably increase it to 50% as the defence budget would be greatly reduced under a CEC Bar

1. Australian support for the use of cluster bombs and depleted uranium weapons in Iraq & Afghanistan is appalling, as these weapons cause death & destruction &, like landmines, remain a threat well after the army leaves.
2. We are against nuclear power because it frequently leads to nuclear weapons proliferation. However we are opposed to countries like the United States threatening countries like Iran over nuclear weapons, when the US has one of the biggest stockpiles themselves.
3. We support full troop withdrawal from Iraq & Afghanistan and have helped to lead the anti-war movement in Australia. The war has cost about a million Iraqi lives & we should get the military out but provide full assistance with reconstruction.
4. Women in Afghanistan have not been liberated by the military intervention, & in fact are often more oppressed due to the rise in poverty & violence. We call for full troop withdrawal immediately.
5. We also need to be more independent from the US & its warmongering foreign policy & instead seek to build allies with the poor countries in Latin America who are undergoing positive social revolution.
